Prayer in the Post Office

November 9, 2017

I was recently at the post office standing in line to mail a letter. A man short of breath and in obvious pain walked in, so I asked him if he was ok. He said, in what sounded like a middle-eastern accent, that he was having back pain and just needed to rest. While I continued to address the letter I was sending, the Holy Spirit prompted me with a thought. I knew immediately that the Lord wanted me to pray for the guy, so I turned and asked if he believed in prayer. He said "yes". I asked him what his name was as I reached out to shake his hand, and he said "Rudy". While I still had ahold of his hand, I prayed a simple prayer out loud asking Jesus to heal him. As soon as I said “amen” one of the postal workers raised her hand and gave praise to God out loud. Rudy then told me that he was half-atheist and half-Christian. That was a first. After I mailed the letter, I turned around and asked Rudy how he was feeling and he said “great”. My only regret was that I didn’t take the time to have a more in-depth conversation with him about Jesus. Please pray that Jesus will continue to reveal himself to Rudy in powerful ways.
